What is the Blacksmith Premium Wall Trough?

Wall troughs are larger than wall mangers, allowing you to fit more plants in. They’re ideal for beautifying any garden space. Outdoor wall troughs bring colour to any space. Available in four sizes, the premium wall trough is constructed from strong and durable 10 mm wire with a decorative twist. It is quick and easy to mount to most surfaces with just 2-screws. A coco liner is included to hold your compost and help preserve water and control drainage. Spare standard coco liners or thicker premium coco liners are available to replace old, worn out liners.

Planting Up The Classic Wall Trough?

The wall troughs hold up to 44-litres of compost and are really easy to plant up. Cutting holes in the coco liner allows you to maximise coverage by planting hanging plants in the sides of the trough.

• More plants means more watering. Larger numbers of plants will deplete water reserves faster.

Using readymade soil-perlite mixes or adding perlite to your preferred planting medium provides better water retention. The porous, inert volcanic rock acts to hold water for your plant’s roots to access, allowing longer periods between watering.

• Add perlite so it makes up around 10-50% of the total volume of potting mix. Add 10-20% perlite if you want better water retention and don’t plan on using a lot of extra nutrients.
